Dear Hearts,
When I heard the title of Elton John’s new song, it struck me as such a profound metaphor for life! It’s so easy to allow ourselves to get stuck in the past. Instead of our life train moving ahead ~ our train begins to visit our past…bringing up painful events and memories that keep us from moving forward.
If we are still holding and perhaps nursing grudges from our past, then it is our job, as children of a loving God, to forgive what has taken place. If we can’t do the forgiveness work alone, then let’s seek out the help we need so we can move forward with our lives so that those past places within us become more and more distant.
Our job on this earth is to be the hands, the eyes, the ears and the mouth of God. In order to accomplish this, we must move ahead. With each forward movement we meet new people, new situations, and we have the opportunity to grow and live better more productive lives than we ever thought possible.
Our lives have great meaning and purpose. However, we will let our lives literally slip through our fingers if we get caught in the web of the past. Today let’s imagine ourselves boarding a beautiful, new sleek train and when the engineer calls “ALL ABOARD”, we answer with a resounding “YES!” thus allowing ourselves to move into a future better and more powerful than we could have ever imagined. For this we were born.
