Dreaming big...
Katy Holmes
Dear Hearts,
Rogers and Hammerstein wrote a wonderful song for South Pacific with lyrics that said, “if you don’t have a dream…how (will) you ever have a dream come true?” Sometimes, we forget about our dreams or choose very small dreams. Sometimes we’re afraid to have big dreams…because they just might come true… and then we’d have to play in a larger arena of life.
If we have big dreams, does that mean we have to create a whole new life for ourselves? Many times we can live those dreams within the content of our current life. If we’ve always had a big dream about a wonderful relationship, we can go forward and create that dream within our current relationship or open ourselves to finding that relationship. We might have always dreamt of having a wonderful career…and we can create that wonderful career within the work we currently do or begin to take steps toward that wonderful career. We might have always had dreams of being a healing and loving presence on this planet …we can fulfill that dream within the life we’re now living or be open to where we can serve and make a difference.
We need never be afraid of dreaming big…that’s what we’re born to do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God through the lives that we lead. And how can we do that if we simply settle for small dreams or no dreams at all?
Let’s make a decision that we are going to live our lives in such a way that from now on we too can say, ”I’m glad I had a big dream.”
With love and blessings,
Rev. Barbara
