Simply...give!
John 13:14
Dear Hearts,
May the above quote from the Master Teacher guide our day on this Passover and Holy Thursday. Jesus shows us by his example how to give…expecting nothing in return. Often times when we give something it’s not really giving but a contract. I’ll do this for you and I expect you to do something for me (even though the last part is sometimes unspoken it is implied).
Today, what can we do for others expecting nothing in return? Our day probably will not require us to humble ourselves, get on our knees, and actually wash another’s feet. However our day will require us to give. Our day may require us to do something we’d rather not do. Whether at work or home how will we respond? Will we do it cheerfully, willingly? Will we expect something in return…and perhaps pout or become angry if we don’t receive it? Or will we be able to give simply for the sake of giving?
Today, as precious children of a magnificent God, how do we want to be treated? Now let’s go forth treating others exactly that way.
With love and blessings,
Rev. Barbara

Fly like an eagle...
Katie Couric
Dear Hearts,
A survey was recently done asking people what they feared most in their lives. The answer …change.
We become “content” in the status quo. We know what our present life looks like and we feel we have some control over that life. The unknown…well, that involves risk and uncertainty and that frightens us.
However, the unknown offers us great rewards…growth, fulfillment, greater creativity, a bigger life, a more abundant life. Many times the thought of change is so frightening to us that we don’t care about the benefits.
Our job, until we take our last breath, is to grow and become. However, when we’re in the status quo we arent’t doing either.
Katie Couric has a marvelous job with people she loves. It’s familiar, it’s her routine. She knows what she’s doing and she’s good at what she does. So why rock the boat? Because this new opportunity is a challenge to her and she’s not afraid to step over the boundaries of her life as she presently knows it and accept that challenge. In her willingness to change she has signaled the Universe that she is ready to live a larger life.
Change always involves risk. Do we believe in ourselves enough to take a risk? As we look at our lives today are we growing? Are we changing? Are we ready to live a larger life? Or are we stuck in a rut (which is little more than a shallow grave)…somehow settling for same old same old?
Let’s remember Helen Keller’s brilliant words, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
We send our prayers and best wishes to Katie Couric on her new adventure.
With love and blessings,
Rev. Barbara
