If we don't have a dream...
Katy Holmes
Dear Hearts,
Rogers and Hammerstein wrote a wonderful song for the play, South Pacific called "Happy Talk". The lyrics said, “If you don’t have a dream…how (will) you ever have a dream come true?”
Sometimes, we forget about our dreams or choose very small dreams. Sometimes we’re afraid to have big dreams…because they just might come true! Then we would have to play in a larger arena of life.
If we have big dreams, does that mean we have to create a whole new life for ourselves? Not necessarily. It may mean that we take our dreams and use them to expand the lives we are currently leading.
Our dream might be to have a wonderful career…and we can create that wonderful career within the work we currently do or… begin to take steps the necessary steps to make that dream come true. If we’ve always had a big dream about a wonderful relationship, we can go forward and create that dream within our current relationship or open ourselves to finding that relationship. Perhaps we have a dream of being a healing and loving presence on this planet …we can fulfill that dream within the life we’re now living.
We need never be afraid of dreaming big…that’s what we’re born to do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God through the lives that we lead. And how can we do that if we simply settle for small dreams or no dreams at all?
Let’s make a decision that we are going to live our lives in such a way that from now on we, too, can say, ”I’m glad I had a big dream.”
With love and blessings,
Rev. Barbara
