Tis the season...
Swami Chidanand Saraswati
Dear Hearts,
We are standing at the threshold of the 2005 Holiday Season. What seems to come with the Holiday Season is added busyness on top of our already busy lives. Sometimes during the holiday rush, our tempers become short and we act in ways that aren’t in keeping with the holiday spirit.
The good news is that we are at choice how we wish to handle this holiday season. It can be the best holiday season of our lives, a holiday season better than any other we’ve ever experienced.
One of the ways we can do that is to begin our planning now…not leaving everything until the last moment. We can structure our activities so that we don’t get so busy we are literally burned out by the end of the holiday season.
It doesn’t matter how great the gift we give or how delicious the food we cook if we’re ill tempered or so exhausted that we have nothing left to emotionally give to our friends and family.
What do we remember long after the gifts are worn out or the meals merely a memory? We remember the qualities expressed…the kindness, the love, the joy, the warmth, etc., these qualities make our memories, not the gifts, the food or the decorations.
We can make up our mind now…today, that this is the holiday season that not only will our decorations shine brightly but we will shine brightly. This is the holiday season that those who see us will remember what the holiday season is all about, love, laughter, kindness, warmth and peace on earth and good will to all men and women everywhere…this is the holiday season.
With love and blessings,
Rev. Barbara
